Yanagi Soetsu, the founder of the modern folk-art movement in Japan , described the Japanese contribution to world culture as the ability to see beauty in things that seem to be trivial.
Which is why I’m really loving the Bento Art of Sakurako Kitsa, who really does eat them for lunch (and yes, that is blue rice). She has a lot of other fun (non-bento) photos too, including a collection of creepy Santas, so prod around.
