I’ve been involved in a community project for the past 2 weeks that’s had me stationed in a field in Bishan.
I’ve been totally humbled by the wonderful people around me. All volunteers, many of them were there from 8.30am until midnight every day, sometimes taking responsibility for fairly quiet and repetitive tasks. Nothing was ever [...]

Putting The Finishing Touches On Vesak
Construction is complete and now it’s all about decoration. Today there was some pretty elaborate trimming and hanging of coconut leaves.

Building A Shrine For Vesak
Each year we take over a park and build a massive marquee for Vesak. It’s up for about two weeks (the actual event lasts 5 days) and then overnight it all comes back down again. The basic structure is up now, and last night we unloaded 2 shipping containers of stuff to fill it with.

Buyers and Sellers
I was having a sunset drink on the balcony with my pup Yang last week and we were deep into a conversation. He’s in the real estate research business, and he’s fond of saying how it’s shifted from a seller’s market to a buyer’s market.

Our home has been under some major renovation since the beginning of the month and it’s still not finished, so we’re staying with relatives who don’t do the tree/carols/gifts/turkey thing. Santa came through for me big-time though. I’ve got a great new hat, [...]

Rare Sightings
My preferred photos of myself, if there is such a thing, usually include objects that at least partially obscure me from view. Fortunately, that always seems to be the case anyway, and I have about 100 pictures of myself with a camera stuck to my face.
These popped up on a disk last week of me [...]
