We’re Old, But We’re Tidy
You can’t see my apartment in this shot, but those groovy art deco buildings you see in the background are the suburb I live in (Tiong Bahru) in Singapore. Apparently we’re the largest “living art deco community” in the world, though I’m not sure where that claim comes from. A lot of our public maintenance is still very labour-intensive. Small flat-bed “golf carts” whiz around the neighbourhood back alleys collecting trash and the gardening and street cleaning is all still by hand.
