On any given night, somewhere in Singapore, there’s a little pocket of delight. Over the weekend it was in the Bras Basah district where French lighting artists tinkered with some of our historic buildings.
Oh, thanks Lisa! We do have extremely good public programmes here. Our main concert hall (Esplanade) has an outdoor stage on the river that has a constant programme of free concerts and also an indoor atrium that rotates art and free performance. If you go there on any night it’s full of stuff to do and youngies and oldies from all walks of life. The night festival by the museums is great (and there’s about 5 museums here). They all throw open their doors for a couple of weekends, fill their buildings and surrounds with special exhibitions and stuff to do, and welcome everyone for free. Fantastic examples of public institutions actually being “public”.
